I've been trying to help my former employee find a new job as a nanny. She saw an add in the local paper and asked me to write a reference for her which I gladly did. The interview took place in a coffee shop not in her home, and she was told that the job involved working from 6.30am to 7pm 5 days a week. That's 13 hours a day, 65 hours a week. Plus she was expected to not only look after three children aged between 3 and 6 but to do all the housework too. All for the sum of CHF3,000 a month (CHF2,000 if she were to live in). That works out at less than CHF11 per hour . My friend is Malaysian and has lived here in CH for the last 30 years. Fortunately she's experienced and knows how much she's worth. My question is, is this illegal or does this woman have the right to offer a job at such a low salary? I think there is no minimum wage in ch, correct me if I'm wrong, but is there a maximum working hours per week? Should this woman be reported? :msncrazy:
