Buying property using Pension fund

Last year i transfered my UK pension fund over here. Can anyone tell me what the rules are about using it as a deposit for a property? Someone told me i had to wait ten years to use it as leverage for a mortgage, is that true? and if not, any tips on using your pension fund as a way of subsiding a lack of deposit for a mortgage. Are certain mortgage providers more flexible than others ? Thanks
