On our way to Italy on holiday the a/c stopped working. We have a Nissan, took it to the local Nissan shop and they said it was the compressor that needed to be replaced. Bad news, no compressors available in all of Italy and scrapyard part wasn't an option because our model is gas and in IT they are all diesel.
Called our dealership in Aargau - same story, part not available anywhere but they can order it, which will take 1 month to arrive, for 4000 CHF. No thanks.
IT dealer gives me a link for the exact parts on eBay, we have them sent to a package forwarding company in the U.S. who has royally f-ed up and now the part will arrive in CH, instead of IT, where we can have it installed.
Our problem - can we just rock up to a garage and ask them to replace the part for us? We already know Nissan won't do it, but we are worried that other places will turn us down for liability reasons (but hey, wtf do we know about this stuff anyways?)......has anyone been in a similar "I have the part can you fix it" situation? Or can recommend a shop who could help us out?
Thanks. We leave IT for CH on Sunday - we are dreading the tunnel traffic with no aircon and two little kids in the car.....
