I hired a painter to paint my interior. The celling is about 4 meters high, so he rented a rolling scaffold and passed the charges onto me. Was surprised to see it cost about CHF1200. Scaffolding strikes me as very low tech, and the scaffold looked like it would not be worth much more than CHF2000. Why is it so expensive to rent scaffolding?
Now I need to have some work done on a facade. While the scaffolding is up, I thought I'd install recessed lights into the overhanging eaves. But now I am intimidated by the cost of scaffolding. It would have to be about 4-5 meters high.
Anybody know of any DIY scaffolding resources where I might simply rent, pick up and set up the scaffolding myself for a fair price? Otherwise, does it make sense to buy scaffolding, use it and then resell it? Looking for the smart and cost-effective way.
