Moving from NY to Switzerland with 14 year old (most likely St. Gallen)

dimanche 9 août 2015

Hello.

My fiance lives in Switzerland,St. Gallen, and we are planning to move there next September. We are still deciding between letting my daughter to finish school here (but as i know if she will be 18 she won't be able to move with me to switzerland, since she will be an adult )

Please explain me or share your experience how kids move at that age. School systems here and there are so different. She is a regular kid, not genius or something.

He said that at age 15 they have to choose the profession and work by themselves, and go for another 3 years. She will not be accepted to gymnasium simply because she doesn't have time to learn the language to that level, so it possible that she won't be able to get her school education?

We have one year. I was thinking to get some tutor to learn some German here before we go. My plan was to go there, make her stay there with me at least till she is 20 years old, so she can apply for swiss passport there and get her school education there. (My fiance moved there when he was 12, but never applied for swiss passport and still had his status C) That way at the age of 20 she will have two citizenships, her father in NY snd me in Switzerland and she can live and continue her education anywhere she wants. I assume that any kind of diploma, ether it a gymnasium or that professional kind of scool she can still go to university.

I was looking at international scools in Switzerland, but all of them are private and very expensive.

I personally hate NY high schools. I went there and i can tell you, it's one stage that i would like my daughter to avoid.

Please help me to understand how that will work? Thank you
