So I'm leaving the UK on Tuesday 11th August to arrive and work in Bern. I start work on 17th August and am trying to get all the bureaucratic stuff sorted out before I start work. Given I've never moved country before I'm very apprehensive and could use some second opinions about my plans for the first few days.
I'm staying with a very lovely Swiss couple for the first seven days in order to go apartment viewing and to let me set up a Swiss bank account and register with the cantonal authorities. I have my work contract already -- is this sufficient when combined with my temporary address to open a bank account and register with the cantonal authorities while I search for more permanent residence? The only reason I ask is I really need to open a bank account so I can pay for a flat deposit once I find a suitable place.
Thanks for your help!
